Wildlife on Your Doorstep
Step out of the back door and you're in Trillis Banks, a hidden 8-hectare grassland valley managed by Gloucestershire Wildlife Trust. The reserve was originally attached to the cottage, and you step straight into this peaceful haven.
This special valley is home to hazel dormice and limestone grassland flowers including greater butterfly-orchid, southern marsh-orchid, common rock-rose and common milkwort. The Holy Brook winds through meadows and sloping banks, linking to the canal and three woodlands, two of them ancient (Penny Grove and Barnage Wood, plus Siccaridge Wood). Deer and foxes are regular visitors around the cottage.
